How to Buy and Use Parking Permits

Buying a parking permit

Summer permits sold mid-May thru the end of July each year. 

Academic year 2026-27 parking permits will be available online beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

You can buy a parking permit in your My Missouri State account. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to My Missouri State.
  2. Select the Parking and Transportation Card. 
  3. Select My Parking.
  4. Under the Permit section select Get Permits.
  5. Follow the online parking permit instructions to purchase a permit.

Displaying your permit (Required)

Until July 31, 2026 please display the permit on the lower left side of the windshield on the driver's side, above the inspection sticker. Permit must be completely affixed. Do not leave window cling permit lying on the dashboard of the vehicle.

For the upcoming Academic Year there will no longer be physical permits, as we are moving to all virtual parking permits that are effective August 1, 2026.

Using your permit

The permit may be used on any vehicle you are operating, but all vehicles used will need to be registered with the University Parking Office. Vehicles may be registered through the online parking portal or by contacting the Parking Office either by telephone at 417-836-4825 or email at parking@missouristate.edu 

Do not sell, give away or loan your permit.

You are responsible for any citations issued to a vehicle displaying your permit.

Carpooling

Those who carpool can share the same permit. In the event of a violation, the parking violation is charged to the permit owner—no matter who is driving.

If you forget your permit, you may obtain a temporary permit from the Parking Office either in-house (700 E. Elm St.) or via e-mail to parking@missouristate.edu
