General Education Goal Rubrics

As Assessment works to transition our QIP process for General Education, the need for more specified rubrics is arising. A team of faculty are working to develop rubrics aligned with the 15 General Goals and 71 Specific Learning Outcomes (SLOs) in Missouri State's General Education program. As the rubrics are completed and approved, they will be made available for faculty use.

Foundations (General Goals 1-7, & 15)

Human Cultures (General Goals 8 & 9)

Natural World (General Goals 10 & 11)

Public Affairs (General Goals 12, 13, & 14)

Public Affairs is one of four sections if the General Education program. The goals aligned with Public affairs are as follows:

Public Affairs Rubric

The Public Affairs Rubric was designed to gauge student work on a continuum of public affairs understanding and application as it relates to the Missouri State University mission. The continuum is based on Bloom’s Taxonomy and the related Depth of Knowledge levels. This rubric was originally designed for the MSU Quality Initiative Project. Curricular and co-curricular unit goals are aligned with the rubric on the Map of University Standards and Outcomes to Public Affairs Rubric document below.

AAC&U VALUE Rubrics

The Association of American Colleges and Universities grants free access to 16 rubrics developed through the Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education (VALUE) program. These rubrics are categorized into three areas: intellectual and practical skills, personal and social responsibility, and integrative and applied learning.
