Young Artists Keyboard Academy

Students from Young Artists Keyboard Academy 2019 pose as group outside Roy Ellis Hall at MSU

June 27 - July 1, 2020

About

The Young Artists Keyboard Academy (YAKA) at Missouri State University is a residential, five-day intensive experience for pre-college students (ages 12-18) of classical piano and organ. YAKA offers a well-rounded curriculum that includes concerts, individual lessons from faculty, musicianship training, and college preparation. Students are taught by Missouri State University’s internationally-acclaimed keyboard faculty.

Each student declares a principal (piano or organ) and secondary (piano or organ) instrument and private lessons on both instruments will be given. No prior experience is needed on the secondary instrument. YAKA concludes with a Final Recital in the C. Minor Recital Hall of Ellis Hall.

Housing and Meals

Students will live on campus for four nights in a University residence hall for the duration of the program; they will also be served three meals daily from one of the residential dining halls. A staff of counselors will supervise the residence hall. Students will be supervised at all times.

Application Process

Before completing the online application, prepare a brief (no longer than five minutes) audition video and publish as unlisted on your YouTube or Vimeo channel. Simply include that audition video link in the application form when prompted.

Schedule

YAKA will run Sunday, July 27 through Wednesday, July 1, 2020. More detailed schedule will be sent to the students upon acceptance.
