Choral Studies at Missouri State University includes Chorale, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Choral Union, Grand Chorus, as well as the graduate choral conducting program. Choirs from Missouri State have performed regularly at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Music Educators Association, Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses National Seminar, and the National Association for Music Education. A variety of advanced choral repertoire is performed throughout the year.
Chorale is the flagship touring choir of Missouri State's Department of Music. This select choir of approximately 48 voices performs regularly at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education, and has toured throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa. In May 2015, the MSU Chorale performed by invitation at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. In May 2016, the Chorale embarked on an 18-day concert tour of South Africa.
Open to all students by audition. A variety of advanced choral repertoire is performed
in concerts and tours throughout the year. May be repeated for credit.

Founded in 2014, the Missouri State University Men’s Chorus is open to male students interested in singing challenging music in a range of styles. Men’s Chorus personnel come from diverse backgrounds and a variety of majors. The Men’s Chorus performs concerts each semester, along with a variety of functions, both on and off campus. Additionally, this ensemble tours to area high schools and throughout the region. In 2016, the Men’s Chorus performed by invitation at the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses National Seminar in Urbana, Illinois. Members of Men's Chorus also perform in Grand Chorus.
Open to all students by audition. Repertoire includes a broad range of men’s chorus
repertoire.

Choral Union, a mixed choir of students and community members, rehearses one evening per week and performs concerts throughout the year. Choral Union serves as a major component to Grand Chorus.

Thursday, 6-8:30pm
Relaunched in 2016, the Missouri State University Gospel Choir performs various style of gospel music including spirituals, contemporary worship, and traditional gospel music. This ensemble consists of MSU students as well as members of the surrounding communities.
Grand Chorus represents the combined choirs at Missouri State (Chorale, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, and Choral Union) and presents major choral works, usually with the Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 the Grand Chorus and Symphony Orchestra performed of W. A. Mozart’s Requiem and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts (Kansas City, Missouri).
*The members of Chorale, Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, and Choral Union comprise the GRAND CHORUS and must be available for rehearsals on Thursday evenings as scheduled. Normally, only 2-3 evenings are required for each semester, which will be listed in the schedule of rehearsals/performances distributed at the first rehearsal of each ensemble.
