String Fling is a chamber music/orchestra experience for pre-college string students. Marking its 18th year, String Fling returns in 2019 with high school (July 14-17) and middle school (July 15-17) camps. Students in private lessons who have completed grade six or higher are invited to study this summer on the Missouri State University campus (Springfield, Missouri).
Students will be coached by full-time faculty of Missouri State University's Department of Music, including Dr. David Hays (violin), Daniel Ketter (cello), Dr. Amy Muchnick (viola), Dr. Christopher Kelts (orchestra), along with guest faculty instruction. Convocations, master classes, presentations and and other events combine to make String Fling an unforgettable experience.
Housing and Meals
High school students will live on campus in a University residence hall for the duration of the program; they will also be served three meals daily from one of the residential dining halls. A staff of counselors supervise residential life. Middle school students living more than 45 miles away may live on campus for an additional $125 fee. ALL camp students will be supervised at all times.
