Union Bids and Awards

Missouri State University has agreements with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, ALC-CIO Local Union No. 453 and Teamsters Local Union No. 245.

The agreements govern employment practices and schedules for certain groups of employees at Missouri State.

IBEW represents custodial, grounds and maintenance employees

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, ALC-CIO Local Union No. 453 (IBEW) is the exclusive bargaining representative for custodial, grounds and maintenance employees at Missouri State, except as excluded in the Memorandum of Agreement, University and IBEW.

Upon successful completion of 90 days of employment, all full-time employees who are represented by IBEW (excluding custodian, groundskeeper, facilities maintenance or locksmith apprentices), will acquire seniority with an effective date coinciding with their last date of hire and will be eligible to bid on posted vacancies. 

The successful bidder shall be required to remain on the awarded job for a period of at least six months before he or she may again exercise his or her bidding rights.

Teamsters represents public safety and radio communication officers

Teamsters Local Union No. 245 is the exclusive bargaining representative for full-time and regular, part-time public safety officers and radio communication officers employed in the safety and transportation department, as defined in Memorandum of Agreement, University and Teamsters 245.

Upon successful completion of 90 days of employment, all full-time public safety officer and radio communications officer employees will acquire seniority with an effective date coinciding with their last date of hire and will be eligible to bid on posted vacancies.

Seniority shall be defined as length of uninterrupted service. For the purposes of seniority within this department, there shall be two classifications: public safety officers and radio communications officers.
