General Education Courses
General Education at Missouri State University comprises the core group of courses for undergraduate degrees. The overall aim of general education is to develop people capable of making thoughtful choices that lead to creative and productive lives and responsible participation in society.
Students may elect to follow one of two different general education tracks: the in-house MSU General Education program or CORE 42, which is a statewide program to make general education courses more easily transferrable between Missouri colleges and universities. Core 42 courses are identifiable by their MOTR number. You must complete the General Education requirements with a cumulative 2.0 GPA in order to graduate.
The Department of Political Science and Philosophy offers four General Education courses:

PHI 105 (Critical Thinking), MOTR PHIL 101
PHI 110 (Introduction to Philosophy), MOTR PHIL 100
PHI 115 (Ethics and Contemporary Issues), MOTR PHIL 102
