Missouri State offers high-quality and affordable degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the Department of Political Science and Philosophy provides funding opportunities to its students through scholarships and graduate assistantships.

You can apply for these scholarships by completing the MSU Annual Scholarship Application. The application deadline is March 1. Please note that additional materials may be required depending on the scholarship. If a scholarship requires proof of financial need, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by Feb. 15. You may also be eligible for additional scholarships that are offered by the University.
Graduate Assistantships and Graduate Scholarships
The department awards a limited number of graduate assistantships each year to students in both the Master of International Affairs and the Master of Public Administration programs. Graduate Assistants receive a monthly stipend and tuition waiver In return, they must work for the Department for 20 hours per week. All graduate assistants are required to take nine hours of course work per semester. For instructions on applying for a graduate assistantship, contact the department’s Graduate Director, Michael Boyle.
Students admitted to the MIA and MPA programs are also eligible for assistantships in other university offices and are encouraged to apply. . Check with the Graduate College’s website for a list of openings.
Graduate students are also eligible for a number of donor-funded scholarships, which can be applied for using the MSU Foundation Annual Scholarship Application. The application deadline is March 1. Out-of-state (including international) students with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent on a different scale) and no prior graduate study are automatically awarded the MOGO Scholarship, a tuition discount equal to 75% of the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition. No application is required.
