Campus Conservation Nationals
The Biggest Energy and Water Reduction Competition in History
Between April 5th and April 26th, Missouri State University will participate in Campus Conservation Nationals (CCN), the largest electricity and water reduction competition program for colleges and universities in the world.
The annual competition brings together students and staff from each participating school to host educational and fun events that have an immediate and lasting impact not only on their school’s carbon emissions, but also on campus culture. CCN is jointly organized by the U.S. Green Building Council, Lucid, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Alliance to Save Energy.
During the three weeks of Campus Conservation Nationals (CCN) in 2014, electricity consumption across 22 campus buildings was reduced by an average of 9.1%. The winning MSU building reduced electricity by 31.4%. Overall, the campus community saved over 138,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, equivalent to $9,900 or 98 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
Competition standings will be tracked and shared live through Missouri State University’s Building Dashboard where real-time water and electricity consumption data for our buildings and competition standings for the participating buildings can be publicly viewed.
Stay tuned for information about the events we have planned for students, faculty and staff!
