6 tips for doing well in your courses

At Missouri State, you are considered an adult. You are responsible for the academic and personal choices you make. Here are some tips to help you in the classroom.

Don’t skip unless you are truly sick or have an emergency!

Ask questions.

Discuss material with your instructors and classmates. In college, learning is not just memorization. It is how you analyze and evaluate information.

Stay organized.

Come up with a system that works for you to keep track of assignments, notes and other materials. Read and understand the course syllabus.

Manage your time.

Schedule class times, due dates, study times, work and practices. Schedule a little fun time, too!

Get to know your instructors.

Each one has office hours. This is time they reserve to meet with students. Drop in! Missouri State instructors are known for being personable and approachable.

Take some time each day to review your notes and assignments.

Repetition helps you retain information.
