You can be healthy, fit and active by using the services and facilities we provide.

 

Your medical home: Magers Health and Wellness Center

Maybe you are feeling ill and want a doctor or nurse practitioner to examine your symptoms. Maybe you’d like to get a checkup or flu shot. Maybe you’d like a convenient place to pick up a prescription. Magers Family Health and Wellness Center offers all this and more. We have doctors, nurses, pharmacists and specialists dedicated to providing medical care to the campus community. Basic office visits are free for students who have paid their full health fee, which is included in your required fees.

Mental health and counseling services

Would you like to talk with a professional? Our Counseling Center has a staff of experienced counselors, psychologists and social workers.

Counseling services are confidential and no information is released, except in certain emergency situations. Crisis intervention is also provided to help students cope with mental health emergencies.

Student insurance plans

You are not required to purchase health insurance. However, we encourage you to do so if you are not covered under your family’s plan or you have no coverage of your own. A student group health and accident insurance plan, underwritten by Academic Health Plans, is available.

Workouts and recreation

Wellness is multi-faceted and Campus Recreation has something to meet every student’s needs.

Foster Recreation Center offers workout equipment, courts, studios, aquatics center and a climbing wall.

Tobacco-free campus

Missouri State University prohibits smoking and the use of tobacco products on campus. All students, faculty, staff and visitors must abide by this policy. Magers Health and Wellness Center offers a tobacco-cessation program.

The program is free for all students who are interested in participating.
