Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholarship Application

Application process

The scholarship application for the Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholarship consists of two parts:

  1. Your address, contact and academic information, as well as a list of organizations and activities you have participated in and awards and honors received.
  2. Two essays.

You should also make sure that you have submitted a transcript showing your class rank percentile (6th semester in high school) and your highest ACT or SAT score to the Missouri State office of admissions by the Dec. 1 deadline. As long as the university has a transcript on file, it is not necessary to include a duplicate with the application for the scholarship.

Based on submitted applications, finalists will be selected for on-campus interviews.

Inclusive Excellence Scholarship

The Inclusive Excellence Scholarship supports the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.  Students selected for this program will participate in a personal and leadership development program administered by the Office of Multicultural Services.

Value

$4,000 per year. Total potential value over four years:  $16,000.  Non-Missouri residents will also receive a full waiver of out-of-state tuition.

Application

Submit the Inclusive Excellence Scholarship Application by January 30.  You must also have submitted an application for admission, required transcripts and test scores, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by that date.

Selection criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, you must have a demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity and inclusion.  You must also meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Be from a historically underrepresented group (including, but not limited to Black/African American, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander/Desi American, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous (Native American, Alaskan, Hawaiian), Multiethnic, LGBTQ+)
  • Be from a low socio-economic background
  • Be a first-generation student (you are considered first-generation if neither of your parents has a bachelor’s degree)
  • Have a documented disability

Your academic performance and your record of school and community service will also be considered.

Students will be selected by a committee established by the Office of Multicultural Services.

Renewal criteria

Complete 27 MSU credit hours per year with a cumulative MSU GPA of 2.75 or higher and complete the requirements of the Inclusive Excellence Program established by the Office of Multicultural Services.

The application for the 2019-20 academic year will be available on this site beginning approximately September 1, 2018.
