Campus Life and Traditions

Student crowd surfing

Our can’t-miss MSU events range from Bear Bash, our first-week-of-school party with at least 5,000 attendees, to Fountain Day. Yes, we hold a party in spring when we turn on the beloved fountain!

You will find people who love what you love. With 375+ organizations, we have a group for almost everyone, from acapella singers to stand-up comedians, gardeners to a co-ed hip hop dance team.

And there’s so much going on that you’ll never be bored. We have live music, comedy, bowling, board games, movies, pool parties and much more. Recent headliners for student shows include D.R.A.M., Hoodie Allen, Young the Giant, Childish Gambino, Tyga, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Phillip Phillips, Karmin, Brad Paisley, H. Jon Benjamin, Daniel Tosh, Amy Schumer, Zach Galifianakis and Wiz Khalifa.

Go Bears!

Missouri State athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division I level. Students get in free to most home athletic events.

Boomer loves you And many other days, of course. BearWear Fridays: Just one of many traditions that help you show...

Boomer loves you

Boomer Bear is our mascot, and hangs out at many home athletics events. Boomer loves hugs and high fives from students.

Campus living: A Bear’s natural habitat

Are you ready to be closer to your classes, your friends, your hangout spots — basically everything that makes you feel at home? Then you’re ready for the residence life experience. You will likely live on campus as a first-year student, which is a benefit to you because studies show most students are more successful when they live on campus. And how about cable, wi-fi, 24-hour computer labs and free laundry facilities? We have all that and more in our 10+ housing options.

Your safety on campus

MSU has a city police substation, well-lit walkways, cameras in parking lots and swipe-card access to residence halls. The Missouri State Alert system will contact you if there is an emergency or school is closed due to bad weather.

Your medical home

Maybe you are feeling ill and want a doctor or nurse practitioner to examine your symptoms. Maybe you’d like to get a checkup or a flu shot. Maybe you’d like a convenient place to pick up a prescription. Magers Health and Wellness Center offers all this and more, with doctors, nurses, pharmacists and specialists dedicated to providing medical care to campus.

Your favorite meals

Missouri State’s dining services has options for everyone, including healthy balanced meals, vegan/vegetarian meals and choices for those with food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
