Audition for Music Majors and Minors
All students pursuing a music major or minor are required to complete an audition. This audition is separate from general admission to Missouri State University.
Audition dates
All auditions are held on the Missouri State University campus in Springfield, Missouri.
If you are unable to attend an on-campus audition, please contact the music department office for instructions on submitting a video of your audition.
Acceptd online registration dates open Oct. 1, 2026.

Prepare for success

For those times when you are unable to attend an audition in person, follow these
professional tips to prepare and record your vocal or instrumental audition video.
The department has released a free Guided Practice Sessions (GPS) video series that
covers the required scales and etudes from band audition materials for many instruments.
