Scholarships and Financial Aid
The economics department offers a number of scholarships specifically for undergraduate students pursuing a major or minor in economics. There are scholarships available based on financial need and/or excellence in the classroom.
You may also qualify for additional University-wide scholarships or financial aid. The office of financial aid provides information about University scholarships, grants and loans.

Economics Minor Scholarship
Selection criteria
Student must be an economics minor with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA and must have completed 12 or more hours of economics. Student is also required to submit a General Personal Statement.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Economics Alumni Scholarship
Value
Scholarship amount varies depending on the availability of funding, but awards are usually $750 - $1,250.
Application
Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time sophomore or greater majoring in Economics with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.0 in Economics.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Dale and Lynn Wasson Award for Excellence in Economics
Value
Scholarship amount varies depending on the availability of funding, but awards are usually for $1,000 - $1,200.
Application
Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.
Selection criteria
Available each semester to a graduating senior majoring in Economics with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.25 in Economics.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship cannot be renewed.
Robert and Lynette Foster Economics Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a junior or senior majoring in Economics. Student must have a cumulative and departmental GPA of 3.0. Preference should be given to the student with the greatest financial need.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
J. David Lages Memorial Scholarship
Value
Scholarship amount varies depending on the availability of funding, but awards are usually for $600 - $800.
Application

Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time junior or greater Economics major with an overall GPA of 3.0.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Larry and Carol Cox Economics Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time Economics major. Consideration for incoming freshmen based on academic performance and leadership. Consideration for students enrolled at sophomore level or greater based on good academic standing. Awards made in regard to financial need.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship cannot be renewed.
Scott and Gayla Moore Economics Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to full-time sophomore or greater majoring in Economics with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a departmental GPA of 3.0. Must submit a one-page personal statement outlining interest in field and career goals. Preference given based on financial need.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
John M. Carnahan, III, Scholarship

Scholarship amount varies depending on the availability of funding, but awards are usually for $500 - $750.
