Description
4 Units of English are required. Two units emphasizing composition and writing skills are required. One unit may be speech or debate.
Acceptable Courses: English or language arts, literature speech, debate, journalism (if writing intensive).
Unacceptable Courses: yearbook, dramatics, mass media.

Mathematics
Description
3 Units of Mathematics are required in high school (algebra 1 taken in 8th grade does not count towards math requirement). High school level algebra and beyond, including algebra II.
Acceptable courses: algebra I, geometry, algebra II, pre-calculus, trigonometry, analytical geometry, calculus, math analysis.
Unacceptable courses: computer math, pre-algebra, general math, consumer math.

Social Studies
Description
3 Units of Social Studies are required. Must include American history and at least one semester of government.
Acceptable Courses: world history, American history, American government, state/regional history, principles of democracy, civics, psychology, sociology, economics, political science, geography.
Unacceptable Courses: family relations, consumer education.

Science
Description
3 Units of Science are required. One unit must be a lab course.
Acceptable Courses: biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, botany, zoology, integrated science, pohysical science, earth science.

Visual & Performing Arts
Description
1 Unit of Visual & Performing Arts.
Acceptable Courses: art, music (band, orchestra, choir, music appreciation or music theory), dance, drama, theatre appreciation.
Unacceptable Courses: speech, mass media, arts and crafts.
