Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Missouri State University Testing Center is to provide a professional testing environment for the campus and the community that supports the public affairs mission of the University by:
- Enabling test takers to perform at their maximum ability
- Providing a secure, quiet, clean, accommodating, and accessible environment
- Serving as the primary liaison for outside testing agencies and institutions
- Facilitating the testing needs of on-campus and distance-learning students
- Providing a knowledgeable, courteous testing staff
- Making national and professional entrance, certification, and advanced-standing examinations available to the campus and the community
- Assisting students in meeting their educational goals
We are committed to maintaining professional testing standards and practices, safeguarding confidentiality of student records. The University Testing Center adheres to guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association (NCTA).

As a rule, exams will not be permitted to start within one hour of a posted closing time, and under no circumstances will an exam be permitted to start within 30 minutes of a posted closing time. The "Exam Stop Times" listed in the tables above are one hour prior to a posted closing time and students should expect they will not be permitted to start an exam if they arrive at or after that time. Closing times, especially those occurring mid-day, will be strictly enforced.
In the event of staff absences, the above schedule may change on short notice. Please verify our current operating hours before arriving for an exam.

These exams require appointments by scheduling in advance. In the majority of cases, you must schedule these exams at least two (2) business days in advance. Exams in this category include most academic (non-Missouri State Online, whether Missouri State or other institutions) exams and all professional certification exams.
Exceptions: some exams (such as the MAT) can only be given between 9 AM and 4 PM, due to exam company requirements. Please see the specific exam information using the navigation bar on the right for more information about the desired exam.
Exams must be COMPLETED by posted closing time, no exceptions. Most exams must start no later than ONE HOUR prior to closing; a later start time may be allowed at the discretion of Testing Center Staff. Under no circumstances will an exam be permitted to start within 30 minutes of the posted closing time. Closing times will be strictly enforced.
Late arrival policy for scheduled exams: As a general rule, candidates for scheduled exams will be permitted to begin an exam if he or she arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled exam time. Later start times may be permitted at the discretion of the Center staff, space and time permitting,
Missouri State Online Exams
Students in Missouri State Online courses who need to take a proctored exam via Blackboard or similar computer-based test (CBT) do not need to schedule their exams. Missouri State Online exams are given on a drop-in basis during our normal hours of operation, no appointment necessary.
We must have your instructor's class roster, exam information, and password on file before we can administer your exam. Valid photo ID is required - if you do not have a valid photo ID, you will not be allowed to sit for your exam. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy.

The University Testing Center is located in Room 010 on the Lower Level of the Duane G. Meyer Library on the campus of Missouri State University. Telephone calls or emails after business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM) will be responded to the next business day.
Most exams, with the exception of Missouri State Online exams, require advance registration with the testing company and/or the Testing Center. For a complete list of types of exams we host, please see the navigation bar on the left. NOTE: Correspondence Testing includes but is not limited to - Missouri State students taking courses through other schools and non-Missouri State students taking exams through other schools. Exams may be paper/pencil-based or computer-based; both types can be administered through the Testing Center.
