Bears LEAD students

Interested in an experience designed for diverse and first generation students?  Do you want extra support to make sure you stay on top of your classes? Want to make connections and find resources to benefit your academic success?

The all new Bears L.E.A.D. Program at Missouri State will help you do this and more. Review some of the participant expectations, program offerings, and apply below! 

PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS 

  • Attend all scheduled one-on-one appointments with your assigned advisor or reschedule in a timely manner 
  • Attend each monthly scheduled Bears LEAD meeting 
  • Follow up on tasks agreed upon with your assigned advisor to promote academic success (i.e., academic coaching, Bear Claw, meeting with instructors, etc.) 
  • Seek a coordinator/respective advisor’s help when problems first arise 
  • Keep track of grades in all classes on a regular basis

ACTIVITIES  

There will be many scheduled activities throughout the semester made available for you to attend. These activities are optional and provide an opportunity for you to get more involved on campus and connect with other students.  Be sure to check our website, social media, and newsletter for updates regarding upcoming events. 

Additional offerings include access to TutorMe, a peer mentor, or Bears LEAD study buddy!

STIPEND ELIGIBILITY 

As a freshman and sophomore participant, you are eligible to receive a book stipend at the end of each semester by completing the following: 

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 
  • Attend all scheduled 1:1 appointments with your respective advisor (4) 
  • Attend all scheduled Bears LEAD meetings (4)
