Spring 2026 Concert Ensemble Audition Information
All students who plan to participate in a Missouri State University Concert Ensemble must complete an audition. This includes all students receiving a Band Grant.
AUDITION PURPOSE
Concert ensemble auditions ensure accurate placement within the appropriate group or section. Everyone must perform an audition - even if you plan to participate only in Concert Band.
ENSEMBLE PLACEMENT DETAILS
There are two sets of audition excerpts.
- Wind Ensemble / Wind Symphony Auditions - For placement into the Wind Ensemble or Wind Symphony. Prepare this set if you want to be considered for these groups.
- Concert Band Auditions - For placement within sections of the Concert Band. Prepare this set if you plan to participate exclusively in Concert Band.
SCHEDULE & SIGN UP FOR AUDITION TIME
Auditions will be held during the last week of classes.
Monday, December 1 - 1:00-3:00pm
Tuesday, December 2 - 1:00-5:00pm
Wednesday, December 3 - 1:00-3:00pm
Thursday, December 4 - 1:00-5:00pm
Sign-up sheets will be posted on the Wehr Band Hall office windows on Monday, November 10.
Print and bring this Student Information Form with you to your audition.
AUDITION MATERIAL
Please prepare all excerpts to the best of your ability. If you are unable to perform an excerpt at the indicated metronome marking, please play at a tempo that you can be successful.
