External Approval-New Programs
The Office of Instutitional Effectiveness (OIE) supports faculty and academic areas through external approval processes and/or compliance for new programs. Before the University can offer a new program to students, state approval is required and in some cases, additional external approvals may also be required. OIE also provides guidance on accreditation compliance to ensure the University can successfully administer the new program.
A Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) application & financial form are REQUIRED for all new UG/GR programs and all new UG/GR certificates requiring more than 18 credit hours.
These forms need to be completed prior to creating a new program proposal in Curriculog and in partnership with the academic unit leader. Here is a guide to assist with the completion of the application form. Faculty should consult with academic unit leaders for the financial form.
New Undergraduate Program Application Form
New Graduate Program Application Form
New Doctoral Program Application Form
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) should be consulted with any questions or need for support when completing these required forms.
OIE will submit the required forms to the state after the new program has been fully approved through the internal curricular process. These required forms MUST be completed accurately. The curriculum outlined on the MDHEWD forms must match this proposal form but also include all degree requirements.
In the event additional external approval is required, OIE will contact faculty and academic unit leaders.
