CIP Change Requests

Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) codes are used to classify academic programs based on postsecondary curriculum. These codes support the accurate tracking and reporting of programs of study and completions.

The following options are available to update the CIP code for a program.

The CIP Change Form is used to request a CIP change for an existing program.

The U.S. Department of Labor provides a listing of occupations related to each CIP code. Highlights include skills and education needed in each field, along with wage and workforce trends.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) publishes a complete list of CIP codes that qualify as STEM fields for international students with a F1 visa applying for OPT extension.
