Institutional Equity and Compliance has developed a three-course online training program designed to inform, educate and guide members of the University community on identifying and preventing discrimination and harassment.
- Guests and Academic Students (who are not employees) please visit this site to view compliance training modules. Faculty can incorporate the University's compliance courses into their academic course(s) Blackboard site for their students to complete. Training requirements
All full-time and part-time faculty members, staff members, teaching assistants, graduate assistants, and student workers are required to successfully complete the three (3) part on-line Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance training program: Preventing Sexual Harassment, Preventing Employment Discrimination, and In Their Shoes - Disability Awareness Training.
New University employees are required to successfully complete the on-line Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance training program within thirty (30) calendar days from their start date.
Employees who are recently promoted to a supervisory position are required to complete the supervisory portion of the online Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance training within thirty (30) calendar days from the start date of their promotion.

Program Overview:
Plan for approximately three (3) hours to complete all three courses of the program. Each part is approximately 45 minutes to one (1) hour in length. The on-line training programs can also be accessed as a reference or to review material. Course descriptions and requirements are:
- Preventing Sexual Harassment is a tutorial designed to educate members of the University community on issues associated with sexual harassment. This course provides information that will help you to: identify and respond to sexually harassing behavior; understand legal and other consequences of sexual harassment; and explain Missouri State University’s policies and procedures that prohibit sexual harassment and other forms of sex discrimination. Please read the Navigation Instructions for "Preventing Sexual Harassment" prior to starting the online course. Use the following guidelines to determine which edition is appropriate once you have accessed the training site:
- Supervisory: Administrators, deans, department heads, supervisors and all other University employees whose job responsibilities include the supervision of other employees, including student workers.
- Faculty: Full time and part time faculty members, lecturers, and teaching assistants.
- Non-Supervisory: All full time and part time staff, graduate assistants and student workers whose job responsibilities do not include the supervision of other employees.
- Student: This edition is available for students who are not employed by the University but are interested in learning about issues associated with sexual harassment.
- Preventing Employment Discrimination provides Missouri State University employees information on how to recognize and prevent discriminatory employment practices. This course educates employees on federal and state equal employment opportunity laws, and Missouri State University polices and procedures that prohibit discrimination in the workplace. Preventing Employment Discrimination features unique editions for supervisory staff and non-supervisory staff. Use the following guidelines to determine which edition is appropriate once you have access the training site:

- In Their Shoes - Disability Awareness Training - Please read the Navigation Instructions for "In Their Shoes" prior to starting the online course. Missouri State University has collaborated with Penn State University to implement an interactive online training program entitled “In Their Shoes.” This program is intended to prepare and educate the University community to work more effectively with individuals that have disabilities. “In Their Shoes” will help University employees enhance their knowledge, skills and comfort level when working with individuals with disabilities. This course focuses on the students’ perspectives as they engage with faculty and staff through higher education and is designed to develop an improved understanding of what it is like to walk… in their shoes.
The Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance will also conduct voluntary, supplemental educational programs throughout the year on the identification and prevention of discrimination and harassment and other equal opportunity topics.
