The Hive of Bear Pride invites every member of the Missouri State community to help build something meaningful, memorable and uniquely ours. This special fundraising initiative offers students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends the opportunity to purchase a personalized honeycomb plaque, creating a vibrant display of Bear pride outside the Clifton M. Smart III University Advancement Center.
Each honeycomb—available in three sizes—can be customized with your name, your family’s name or a message of support, giving you the chance to quite literally “bear” your name on the university’s newest facility. These plaques provide a distinctive way to celebrate your connection to Missouri State and leave a lasting mark on the place that serves as a Bear’s home for life.
While the deadline for installation before the University Advancement Center's November grand opening has passed, you can still place your order by Oct. 1, 2026, to have your honeycomb installed before Fall 2026 commencement.
Small honeycombs are 5 1/4" across, 5 3/8" high and 1/8" thick.
They are 5 1/4" across, 7 3/4" high and 1/4" thick.
They are 8" across, 7 3/4" high and 3/8" thick.
Funds raised through the Hive of Bear Pride will directly support the Clifton M. Smart III University Advancement Center, strengthening the work that advances Missouri State’s mission and fosters lifelong engagement.
As the honeycomb wall grows, it will stand as a powerful symbol of shared commitment—a hive built one Bear at a time, reflecting the spirit, generosity and pride that make Missouri State University a community you never outgrow.
Honeycombs are tax-deductible, and all donors will receive a tax receipt upon making their gift.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mail a check instead?
Yes. Please send your check to: Missouri State Foundation 901 S National Ave. Springfield, MO 65897 Be sure to include what you would like to put on your honeycomb. One of our staff members will call you to verify your engraving.
Who is eligible to have their name on the Hive of Bear Pride?
Any alumni or friend of Missouri State University may purchase a honeycomb.
When will my honeycomb be installed?
Honeycombs are added to the Hive of Bear Pride every May and December.
Can I update my honeycomb engraving after it is in place?
No. Since honeycombs are engraved, they cannot be changed after they are installed. Don't worry! We will ensure you have the opportunity to preview your honeycomb beforehand.
What is the proofing process for honeycombs?
When your order is received it is entered into the Missouri State University Foundation database for review. Staff will then work with the purchaser to obtain written approval. After that, the honeycomb will be installed with the next batch.
Will this count toward my lifetime giving to the Missouri State University Foundation?
Is this tax deductible?
Yes, all honeycombs count as gifts, and will be credited toward your lifetime giving to the Missouri State University Foundation. Your purchase of a honeycomb is tax deductible. You will receive a charitable gift receipt via email after your order is processed.
How do you decide where the honeycombs are placed?
Honeycombs are placed in order based on the date the approval process is completed.
