Information for New Staff Members

Bear Connection is a relational mentoring program offered to new staff members at Missouri State University. Through a 6-9 month relationship a new staff member is able to learn more about Missouri State through interaction with an ambassador that has worked at the university for several years.

How am I assigned an ambassador?

Ambassadors are chosen for new staff members based upon campus division and proximity to one another. Each new staff member at the university will be assigned an ambassador that they will have an opportunity to meet with following new staff orientation. The ambassador will speak with you at that time to see if you would like to continue with voluntary relational mentoring.

Is participation in Bear Connection mandatory?

Bear Connection is a voluntary program. All new staff members are asked to join an ambassador for lunch and a tour following orientation. The decision to continue the relationship following orientation is voluntarily decided between the new staff member and ambassador.
