Bear Connection is a 90-day welcome program for New Staff at Missouri State. Through professional networking and special campus events, this program provides opportunities for New Staff to increase their knowledge of campus and engage in our inclusive Bear community.
Clif’s Connection is a special quarterly welcome event personally hosted by University President Clif Smart and presented by Bear Connection. Staff members hired during the previous quarter and their Bear Connection Ambassadors are encouraged to join President Smart for complimentary breakfast and take advantage of the unique opportunity to network with University leadership and fellow staff members!
Mission and goals
Bear Connection's mission is to integrate New Staff to the culture of Missouri State University and connect them to the university's mission and values through networking and events.
The program has four goals:
- Welcome New Staff. Help provide a positive introduction to the work environment at Missouri State through Welcome Lunches, Coffee Connections, and quarterly President’s Breakfasts.
- Cultivate an Understanding of Campus Culture and the University System. Help shorten the learning curve by providing access to leaders that understand our organizational structure, University traditions and history, community groups and events, and professional development opportunities.
- Provide Special New Staff Networking Opportunities. Create an engaged and inclusive Bear community by offering opportunities to connect with staff across departments and titles.
- Encourage Bears to Create a Career They Love. Increase new employee satisfaction, morale, and retention through intentional check-ins throughout their first 90 days.
