Safe Zone

Our Mission

Missouri State University has designed a Safe Zone program developed to educate, support, and create a safe campus community that accepts gender and sexual diversity. .  The training will provide students, faculty and staff  with the tools, resources, and information required to establish a safe and welcoming campus community for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally population.  After completion of the training, the individual will be given the opportunity to sign an Ally Commitment, thus making them "Safe Zone Trained" and ready to make a difference at Missouri State University.

Goals of MSU Safe Zones

1. Raise awareness of LGBTQ issues.
2. Promote a welcoming and inclusive campus community for LGBTQ individuals.
3. Train and maintain 10-15 Safe Zone Facilitators who will be certified to conduct Safe Zone workshops on campus. 
4. Provide training and resource materials to students, faculty, and staff Safe Zone allies.
