Roman Davidyuk said, “Anesthesia is one of the toughest and yet most rewarding fields of medicine. When people ask me why I decided to go into the anesthesia field I always answer, ‘There is nothing natural or normal about surgery and often surgery is associated with pain, fear, and discomfort. I am there to take pain away, reassure, and make people comfortable in uncomfortable times.'”

After Davidyuk received his associate's degree in nursing in May 2017, he immediately began his journey toward a doctorate degree in anesthesia. He started working in a busy level 1 trauma hospital in a neurotrauma intensive care unit.
And, while working full time, he completed his bachelor's degree in nursing and all the prerequisites to begin anesthesia school.
Overcoming barriers
Davidyuk was born in Ukraine. When he was 17 years old his family moved to the United States. He said overcoming cultural, social, and language barriers were one of the toughest aspects of moving.
He saw endless opportunities on every corner and with hard work and determination, pursued his dream of earning a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice.
He surrounded himself with the right people who played the most central role in his success and plans to graduate from MSU School of Anesthesia in May 2024.
To future students, Davidyuk says, “Surround yourself with smarter people than yourself, as you do not want to be the smartest person in the room. You must learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
