International Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship has a value of $5,000, payable at $2,500 per semester during the academic year (fall and spring semesters). The scholarship is not applicable to summer enrollment. The scholarship is renewable for three years beyond the first year (four years total) and thus has a total potential value of $20,000.

This scholarship cannot be combined with other University scholarships.

Number available

No application is required. Qualified students will be identified by the Office of International Services through the admission process.

Selection criteria

This scholarship is awarded to international students (non-Missouri residents for fee purposes) entering Missouri State as first-time college students. To qualify, students must have an ACT composite of 24 or higher (or SAT of 1180*) in addition to a strong academic record in high school (secondary school). Additionally, students must enroll at Missouri State as regular, degree-seeking students on the Springfield Campus within 24 months of completion of high school or the equivalent in their country and must have qualifying test scores on file prior to the first semester of regular enrollment. Participation in an English language training program does not qualify as regular enrollment but also does not prevent students from receiving the scholarship if they are otherwise qualified.

*SAT score reflects the sum of the Evidenced-Based Reading/Writing and Math portions of the SAT only.

Renewal criteria

Students must meet the general Scholarship Enrollment and Renewal Standards. The scholarship can be renewed for three years beyond their first year for students who remain enrolled at the undergraduate level. To renew, students must complete 27 credit hours per year and maintain a 3.00 grade point average.
