Fall 2023 Choral Auditions
All 2023 choral auditions will take place in Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts (HHPA), Room 306.
Students may participate in multiple choirs.
INITIAL AUDITIONS
Chorale, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Choral Union:
- Initial auditions are scheduled for August 16-20, 2023.
- Each singer in the Missouri State University choral program must sign up for a time to audition in person for Dr. LaBarr and Dr. Plisco.
- There may be up to three people signed up for each 15-minute time slot.

Wednesday, August 16:
Singers wishing to be considered for ONLY Choral Union or Women’s Chorus. (If you are interested in being considered for Men’s Chorus or Chorale, please sign up for another day.)
Thursday, August 17 - Saturday, August 19:
Students wishing to be considered for Chorale, Women’s Chorus or Men’s Chorus. No Choral Union auditions will be heard on these days.
Sunday, August 20:
Students wishing to be considered for ONLY Men’s Chorus or Women’s Chorus. Students wishing to be considered for Chorale must complete and audition before August 20.

Please sign up for the earliest available time.
Initial Audition Materials:
All scores are linked below.
- Prepare 1-2 verses of a simple folk song or hymn to be sung unaccompanied (i.e. Shenandoah, Amazing Grace, Danny Boy excerpts).
- Students will be asked to sight-read and vocalize, demonstrating range and vocal color.
CALLBACK AUDITIONS
Callback auditions will take place Sunday, August 20, 2023:
- 4:30-6:00 p.m. — Callback audition for Chorale
- 7:00 p.m. — Rosters posted for Chorale, Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus, and Choral Union
