Military Science Minor

Who qualifies for this minor?

Military science is a minor that any student of any major can take. Our freshman- and sophomore-level courses are available to all students, and taking them does not require any commitment to military service. It is an opportunity for you to explore what military science is and how our program can help you meet your personal and career goals.

If you are ready to serve your country and take your leadership skills to the next level, then you can make a commitment to contract to military service. This allows you to take the junior- and senior-level courses in our department. It will also set you on a course to become a commissioned military officer upon your graduation from Missouri State University.

Affiliate school requirements

If you are attending Missouri State through an affiliate school, please contact our department to discuss opportunities to earn a minor.

Army ROTC Basic Camp

If you are interested in military service as an officer, but haven't taken our 100 and 200 level courses, you may benefit from the Basic Camp. This training program is an all-expense paid, four-week training period of intense classroom and field training conducted at Fort Knox, KY.

This is a no-obligation military science option for incoming juniors, transfer students and first-year graduate students who are interested in becoming an officer in the U.S. Army, even if they haven't taken any military science courses before their junior year.
