MFAA 2023 is June 4-17!

In small groups and individually, students will explore the roles that artistic foundations such as context, intention, voice, materials, and content play in contemporary art making.
Sculpting is an artistic activity offered in MFAA’s visual arts discipline.
MFAA students can take advantage of Missouri State’s art facilities to work with a variety of media to explore artistic expression.
The interdisciplinary aspect of MFAA teaches students to stretch their ideas of art and communication through art, which enhances creative thinking and problems solving skills and produces well-rounded individuals.
Students create video applications to showcase their talents and personalities.
In the Stage Combat elective course, students learn the fundamentals of unarmed stage violence, including safety, techniques and physical listening.
Students in acting courses are exposed to a variety of different artists and teaching outlooks with the goal of developing self-confidence, improvisation and listening skills, moment to moment awareness, irreverence, and foundational work with text.
Dance students not only learn movement techniques and principles, they will also develop physical stamina, strength, flexibility, articulation, coordination, musicality and phrasing.
MFAA offers an intensive schedule of classes in discipline-specific arts, including visual arts, theatre, dance, creative writing and music, as well as interdisciplinary with a wide range of co-curricular activities.
Creative writing students will focus on personal observation, writing and creating, as well as studying prose, poetry, dramatic dialogue and essay writing forms. Students share their work daily.
Student writers find time to let the creative juices flow.
Many opportunities are available for students to share and perform their work publically throughout the three-week program.
Students in the instrumental music discipline will explore topics such as interpretation, practice and performance strategies, and music history, literature and theory.
Vocal and instrumental music are just two of six disciplines offered at the Missouri Fine Arts Academy.
