These gifts can provide significant support for Missouri State while also offering potential tax and estate planning benefits. Donors are encouraged to consult with their financial, legal or tax advisors when considering these opportunities.

Gifts of stocks and securities

Donating appreciated stocks, mutual funds or other securities can be a tax-efficient way to support Missouri State. In many cases, donors may avoid capital gains taxes while receiving a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the asset.

Electronic transfer of securities is often the simplest and most efficient method for completing these gifts.

Real estate gifts

Real estate can be a powerful way to support the university’s future. Gifts may include residential, commercial or agricultural property, as well as undeveloped land or vacation homes.

Depending on the type of gift, donors may receive tax advantages while making a transformational impact on Missouri State students and programs.

Gifts of insurance

Life insurance policies can provide another meaningful avenue for charitable giving. Donors may choose to name the Missouri State Foundation as a beneficiary of a policy or transfer ownership of an existing policy to the Foundation.

These gifts can help create a lasting legacy while supporting areas of campus that matter most to the donor.

Gifts of personal property

The Missouri State Foundation may accept a variety of non-cash gifts that can create meaningful impact for the university. These gifts may include real estate, collections, equipment, vehicles, intellectual property and other valuable assets.

Bonds and other assets

Certain bonds and other marketable assets may also be donated to benefit Missouri State. These gifts can offer flexibility for donors while helping provide long-term support for scholarships, academic programs, athletics and other university priorities.

Electronic funds transfer

Electronic funds transfer provides a convenient and secure way to make recurring or one-time gifts. Donors may arrange automatic contributions directly from a checking or savings account to support Missouri State consistently throughout the year.

Recurring giving helps provide reliable support for students and university initiatives while allowing donors to make an impact over time.
