Once you receive Boomer's introductory message, add his number to your contacts and simply reply to start chatting.

Boomer can provide you with information or guide you to the right resources 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If he can't answer your question, don't worry. He will notify the appropriate office, and they will reach out to you for additional help.

If you are in danger or have an emergency, call 911. Boomer bot is an AI support system that cannot help you in an emergency.

Boomer will send an introductory "hello" text to every undergraduate MSU student at the beginning of the semester.*

After that, Boomer will contact you about once every other week throughout the semester to check-in on you. He might ask how you're doing in your classes, let you know about essential campus updates or ask your opinion about something on campus.

*Boomer bot is currently only available to undergraduate students enrolled in classes through MSU and can only message students with a valid cell phone number saved to their student account.

There are several reasons why you might not be able to reach Boomer.

• Boomer has not sent you the introductory text message.
• You are not currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in courses through the Springfield campus.
• You replied “STOP” to a text message from Boomer.
• Your cell phone number on your student profile is either incorrect or has not been provided. To update it, follow these simple steps to receive Boomer messages and other critical messages through Alert BG:
  1. Go to My Missouri State portal
  2. Find the "Personal Information" card and then choose “Phone/Email/Emergency Contact.”

When you text Boomer:

1. Boomer will answer your questions and perhaps share a relevant campus resource with you based on your questions and responses.
2. If you indicate that you need extra support, a human being will follow up with you. That might be your academic advisor or someone else from your student support team. It all depends on what assistance you need. So remember to check your MSU email often to see if anyone has reached out to you.
