Missouri State Alert is the mass notification system used to contact students, faculty, staff and the public in the event of an emergency or school closing.

Bear Shield app
The Bear Shield app is a comprehensive tool for emergencies and everyday safety needs, with panic alerts, live location sharing, two-way communication, and real-time notifications you can access from any iOS or Android mobile device, making it easy to get help, report safety concerns, and stay informed.
Faculty, staff and students
When in My Missouri State, go to the Personal Information card. You can update your Phone/Email and Chosen Name from this section which will import into the new mass notification system. Students, Staff, and Faculty need to make sure their contact information is correct with the university since this information is imported into the new system. You can update it in the new system, but the import will override it. Therefore, we feel it is best to make sure your information is accurate on the university side.
Public
The public can also access alerts. Any user that does not have an @missouristate.edu email address can access the app to receive notifications. This is a great option for parents, contractors, and event visitors.
- Download the free app on your iOS or Android device
- During registration, a screen will pop up saying "Organization Not Found"
- Select "Continue as guest"
- The next screen requires a 6-digit code of 266637
