Why should I plan to Finish in Four?

  • You’ll save on enrollment fees by attending fewer semesters.
  • You’ll be more likely to maintain your financial aid. Many scholarships are only available if you’re enrolled full time, and many cannot be renewed past the fourth year.
  • You’ll stay focused on your studies. Students who complete their degree in four years typically earn better grades.
  • You’ll get to graduation sooner.

How do I know I am on track?

Your academic advisor will work with you to choose schedules that help you stay on track. Not every student’s degree path is the same, but here are some general guidelines:

  • Aim to complete 30 credit hours per year, or about 14 to 16 credit hours each semester, to stay on track with your degree program.
  • If you don’t take that amount, consider taking summer classes to catch up.
  • Sometimes, depending on the requirements for the degree, you will need to do both.

How do I know how many courses are required for my degree?

You should review the Missouri State University Undergraduate Catalog. You’ll find info about every course at Missouri State and the requirements you must meet to complete your major or minor.
