Introduction

Welcome to Baseball University, where coaches from youth through high-school learn to create the Elite Athlete Mindset.  At Baseball U, coaches learn to apply 21st century sport psychology science to improve player motivation and development.   This site is different from other coaching resources because it focuses primarily on player motivation and the mental game, rather than purely on baseball skills and drills.  That is, coaches who navigate through these pages will better understand the Elite Mindset and learn specific tactics to shape that mindset in service to their players.  Whether working with 9 year olds or All-State HS talent, the strategies delivered to coaches on this site cut across ages and even sport settings. 
Creating the Elite Athlete Mindset may imply that elite athletes are identical in the way that they approach their sports.   This obviously is not true.   What is meant by Elite Athlete Mindset here is that there are ways to mentally approach training, competition, and working with teammates that can provide athletes with a developmental edge.   This advantage of adopting an elite mindset will be seen in kids as they get their first experiences in sport as well as in the pro players who are drafted into professional organizations!

Facets of the Elite Athlete Mindset

The Elite Athlete Mindset (EAM) Model is based on 11 facets that were chosen because of their power to improve player development as a competitor and a teammate.  Access descriptions of each of the 11 facets by clicking on the link below.    As you will see, we provided you with a description of each facet as well as observable actions that you can see from your athletes who are strong on each attribute.   Coaches who become familiar with these facets will begin to form a vision of a strong motivational and team-oriented climate on their teams. This is important because before positive change happens on a sports team, that change has to be envisioned!
