Op3.16 Graduate Assistantships

There are three categories of assistantships.

Graduate Assistants (GAAs) perform a broad range of administrative and operational duties in support of their hiring unit, including office, communication, and event-related functions.

Teaching Assistants (GTAs) perform a broad range of instructional and teaching-related duties, including instruction, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, lab supervision, and other activities that directly support student learning.

Research Assistants (GRAs) perform a broad range of research, scholarly, and creative activities under appropriate supervision, including data collection and analysis, data and record management, research compliance and data protection, scholarly inquiry, and creative work.
