About the Bear Battalion

The Bear Battalion at Missouri State University has a proud tradition of developing leaders of character for service to the nation. As part of the U.S. Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps), our program is rooted in leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to community and country.

Established on Missouri State's campus in 1952, the Bear Battalion has consistently produced top-performing officers who go on to serve in the Active Duty Army, Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve. Our Cadets represent a diverse mix of academic majors and backgrounds, united by their drive to lead, serve, and make a difference.

We emphasize small-unit leadership, hands-on training, and values-based instruction in both classroom and field environments. Cadets benefit from individualized mentorship, leadership labs, and extracurricular training opportunities, preparing them to excel not only in the military but also in their chosen civilian careers.

Whether you're pursuing a career in the Army or simply looking to develop your leadership potential, the Bear Battalion offers a supportive and challenging environment where you can grow personally and professionally.
