'My Statement' User-Generated Content Blog Guidelines

Missouri State has launched a new blog that features an important voice: The voice of current students. There's no better way to tell the story of what it's like to be a Bear than through the first-hand experiences of students who are on campus every day.

Here's how you can get involved, with some rules and guidelines for posts.

How to participate

  • Representatives from web strategy and development will contact students, faculty and staff to request participation.
  • Audiences who wish to participate may email Web@MissouriState.edu to request to participate.

Tips for crafting content

  • All content should mention your affiliation with Missouri State University in the introduction.
    • Example: “Hi, I’m ________, and I’m a ________ at Missouri State University.”
  • Follow guidelines for storytelling as laid out on Missouri State’s brand website.
  • Audiences can submit content by:
    • Writing
    • Video
    • Audio
    • Photography
  • Audiences can submit content via email to Web@MissouriState.edu.
  • All content is subject to moderation and approval. This publication process takes up to two weeks.

The rules

  • Video content will be uploaded to the Missouri State University YouTube channel. Therefore, audiences must provide original mp4 files to web strategy and development staff.
  • Content that contains bodily threats, hate speech, vulgar language and/or infringement of copyright, patents and trademarks is prohibited.
  • Per FTC guidelines, you must disclose if you received compensation for any products or services you highlight in your content.
  • Missouri State reserves the right to edit submissions for reasons including, but not limited to, content, clarity and taste.
  • By submitting content, audiences agree to Missouri State’s terms of service and privacy policies.
  • Audiences must obtain/secure copyright and intellectual property releases for all content they submit to be redistributed by Missouri State.
  • Audiences must sign a likeness release and intellectual property release, as applicable.
