Are you looking for ways to enhance what you do in the classroom that will increase your students' motivation and make a meaningful impact on their learning?

Missouri State University is partnering with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), leaders in higher education that focus on the implementation of evidence-based teaching practices proven to transform learning experiences for students and faculty alike. Through this partership, faculty can pursue a Certificate in Effective Teaching Practices, a nationally recognized teaching credential that has been endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).

  • Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learnings: learn ways to motivate students, deepen their understanding, and help them take greater ownership of their learning.
  • Designing Learner-Centered Courses: design courses with aligned assessments, assignments, and learning experiences that offer students clarity.
  • Creating a Productive Learning Environment: create an environment that supports learning, increases engagement, and helps students persist.

What You Need to Know

Participation and Time Requirement

Faculty will be part of the MSU cohort for this program and will participate in a series of four asynchronous online courses that are facilitated by ACUE course leaders. The duration of each course is 6 to 8 weeks, and faculty should expect to spend approximately 3 hours per week on course content.

During the semester, faculty will be incorporating the practices they learn through ACUE courses into their own teaching and then self-reflecting on its impact during coursework. The Effective Teaching Practices program will run during the Spring and Fall semesters. Courses will be available during the summer semester, but no course work will be due during the summer or during semester breaks.

Eligibility

This opporunity is available to all teaching professionals at MSU regardless of faculty rank or type. To be eligible, a faculty member must be teaching in any modality (face-to-face, online, blended, or HyFlex) during the spring and fall semesters so they are able to actively implement the techniques they learn during courses.

Selection Process

Applications will be accepted until all cohort seats are filled or until November 30th. Prior to the first of January, those selected for this program will receive an official invitation from ACUE. Participants in this program must be actively involved in all coursework and activities and will submit a teaching reflection upon completion of the program.

Note: Space is limited to 45 cohort participants, and selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
