Why Missouri State?
While great cheerleading is important at Missouri State University, it is not our only concern. We promote a positive environment that enhances your personal development for success in life. This is only possible through a program that balances academics, cheerleading and personal time.
The goal for our team is to have fun together doing something that we all love, while also providing encouragement and support to one another. Regardless of our talent level, we steadily progress our skills and fitness level by working hard at practice and outside of practice, and we go out of our way to help our teammates progress.
At games, we support our teams by leading the crowd and making the games fun and exciting. Off the sidelines, we are always in the spotlight and ensure that we represent the university in a positive way at all times. We promote academics by going to class and doing the work and maintaining good grades.
The Campus Visit Desk can set up a formal campus tour and arrange a meeting with the Head Cheerleading Coach. Our cheer visits include a personal meeting with the coach along with a guided tour of our athletics facilities and in-depth information about our program.
Tryout information for the upcoming year is released in February.
Tryouts are held in the spring for the following school year. Tryouts are typically in mid to late April. If deemed necessary an additional tryout will be held in the fall to fill any open positions.
Prior to Tryouts, we offer Spring Clinics to cover the material that will be required during the tryout process. These clinics are not mandatory but are highly encouraged to adequately prepare for tryouts.
The Cheerleading Team cheers for Football, Volleyball, and both Men's and Women's Basketball. The team also competes annually at the UCA College Nationals in Orlando, FL each January. The team placed 3rd in Division 1 in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and 5th in 2013 and 2014.
Missouri State University offers one of the most competitive benefits packages available to all of our cheerleaders in addition to a great education, living in an awesome college town, enjoying our beautiful campus and cheering at our new athletics facilities.
