Graduate assistantships
A graduate assistantship covers your tuition costs for a master's degree. You'll also receive a stipend for living expenses.
Assistantships in the McQueary College of Health and Human Services and assistantships in the department of biomedical sciences are designed to supplement a student’s graduate course work.
Graduate assistants in the biomedical sciences department are hired to do the following tasks:
- Teach introductory courses
- Supervise laboratory research
- Participate in research studies
Biomedical Sciences Department Founders Scholarship

Number of scholarships and values will be dependent on the availability of funding.

Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to an undergraduate student admitted to a degree program within the Biomedical Sciences Department. The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5, and be an active member of the Student Society of Cell and Molecular Biology. The student must have at least 9 hours of BMS and/or CHM classes completed at Missouri State University (which will be confirmed independently of the Scholarship Manager system by the Scholarship Selection Committee). Student must have a documented interest in biomedical sciences, and submit a 250 word essay on how a BMS scholarship will help them achieve their goals in the field.
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Crystal Evans Pummill Scholarship
Value
Scholarship amount varies depending on the availability of funding, but awards are usually $300.

Selection criteria
Awarded annually to the full-time senior Dietetics major graduating within the academic year with the highest overall GPA.

Dr. Bart Kuhns DNAP Fund

Complete the MSU Annual Scholarship Application by March 1.
Selection criteria
The recipient of this award shall be: a non-traditional student properly enrolled in Missouri State's School of Anesthesia, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program, also known as DNAP. A non-traditional student being defined as a working, married, parent or 22+ years of age. Student must provide a one-page essay of how this award will be beneficial during their second semester of this program.

This scholarship cannot be renewed.
Silva Scholarship
The Silva Scholarship was established in 2019 by John Silva, an MSU School of Anesthesia alumnus, and is presented annually to a MSU School of Anesthesia student.

The Crabtree Family Nurse Anesthetist Scholarship

Selection criteria
The recipient of this award will be a full-time student properly enrolled at Missouri State in the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program. The recipient must also have an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher.

This scholarship cannot be renewed.
Wade Shipman Memorial Scholarship
The Dr. Wade Shipman Scholarship fund was established in 2015 and is distributed by a scholarship board/advisory council including the Shipman family, MSU Anesthesia representatives, and Mercy Anesthesia representatives in conjunction with Mercy Foundation.

Funding
The pledge form for this scholarship can be found online at WadeShipman.com. All donations are 100% tax deductible, and 100% of the contributions go to the fund.
Selection criteria
The recipient of this award must meet these three criteria:
- Retaining a good academic status with a GPA of at least 2.00 in Missouri State's School of Anesthesia.
- Currently in the 2nd or 3rd year of the clinical phase of the program.
- Excellent performance in all clinical aspects of the program, as acknowledged by the program director.
