Style guidelines promote consistency among official Missouri State web sites, which help our users find what they need and feel more confident that the information they find is valid and correct.

The Web Style Guide presents recommendations and requirements. While the recommendations are for all University web sites, the requirements are only for official central web sites, University unit web sites and sponsored organization web sites. Course web sites do not need to follow the style guide requirements.

Responsibility

This Web Style Guide is meant to coordinate with the Web Policy and Identity Standards—Missouri State web developers should review both documents to understand the entire set of recommendations and requirements for developing Missouri State web sites. Using the Missouri State web templates is a good starting point for complying with the requirements within this guide.

Developers are free to develop or modify their Missouri State web sites; however, if the Web Advisory Committee determines an official central, University unit or sponsored organization web site has elements that conflict with University requirements, that site's supervisor will be required to make the necessary improvements.
