The DeVries Family Religious Studies Scholarship
Applicant must be a Religious Studies major or minor who is a sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA and enrolled in at least 12 hours each of the award semesters. Preference will be given to students accepted for a University funded excavation in the Middle East or Mediterranean region. See application for more complete requirements.
F.W.A. Bosch Religious Studies Scholarship
Student must be a religious studies major or minor. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential and leadership qualities. When awarded to a returning student, the student must have completed 15 hours including 3 hours of religious studies and have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Gerrit J. tenZythoff Religious Studies Scholarship
Student must be enrolled or admitted to the Religious Studies graduate program or must be an undergraduate major or minor in Religious Studies. Graduate applicants must have an undergraduate cumulative grade point averarge of 3.20 or higher or a graduate cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Undergraduate applicants must have completed 15 hours of college course work, including three hours in Religious Studies, have a 3.25 minimum cumulative GPA and have completed either REL 330 (Judaism), REL 340 (Christianity) or REL 350 (Islam), or be taking one of these courses at the time of application. Preference will be given to pre-seminary students. Recipients must be enrolled for at least 6 hours of Religious Studies classes during the academic year for which the award is given. The scholarship may be renewed, but the student must reapply each year.
James P. Robinson Ecumenical Center Scholarship
Student must have completed 12 hours, including 3 hours of religious studies, with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Student must also have completed or currently enrolled in REL 131 or REL 332. Preference is given to a full-time religious studies major or minor. Recipient must complete 3 hours of religious studies during the academic year.
The Kathy J. Pully Religious Studies Scholarship
Applicant must be a Religious Studies major who is a sophomore, junior or senior who has demonstrated involvement in community service at the college level and has an overall GPA of 3.2. Student must also write a letter to the department head of Religious Studies detailing their community service and giving contact information for two professional references who can validate that service. Recipients must be enrolled for at least 12 hours each semester during the year of the scholarship award.
The Moyer Family Religious Studies Scholarship
Student must be a declared major or minor in the Religious Studies Department, or enrolled in or admitted to the Religious Studies graduate program. Graduate applicants must have an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher or a graduate overall grade point average of 3.50 or higher in religious studies course work. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed or who are currently taking at least two Biblical Studies courses. Recipients at the graduate level must be enrolled in at least three hours each semester during the academic year for which the award is given. Additionally, recipients must complete at least six hours of religious studies coursework during the academic year. The scholarship is not renewable.
Rose Marie and Martin H. Boone, Jr. Religious Studies Endowed Scholarship
Student must be a religious studies major or minor. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential and leadership qualities. When awarded to a returning student, the student must have completed 15 hours, including 3 hours of religious studies, with a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
Rose Marie and Martin H. Boone, Jr. Religious Studies Graduate Scholarship
Student must be a graduate student enrolled at Missouri State University in the master's program in Religious Studies and must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Consideration will be given to undergraduate performance, potential as indicated by aptitude tests and to leadership qualities. Recipient(s) must enroll in at least 3 hours each semester. The scholarship is not renewable.
Schyler Elizabeth Strong Biblical Archaeology Award
Student must be a Religious Studies major, minor or graduate student or an Antiquities major. The award is to be used toward expenses for an archaeological dig in biblical lands. Financial need, previous enrollment in Religious Studies courses and GPA are taken into consideration for the awarding of this scholarship. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester during the year of the scholarship award.
William R. (Bill) Smith Memorial Baptist Student Union Scholarship
Student must enroll in a minimum of three credit hours per semester in the religious studies department. First preference will be given to applicants active in the Baptist Student Union. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 hours of college credit and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Recipients need not be full-time students.
The Women in Religious Studies Scholarship
Student must be majoring in Religious Studies at the undergraduate level, enrolled in the Religious Studies graduate program or a declared minor in Religious Studies. Undergraduate applicants must be of sophomore, junior or senior standing and must have maintained a minimum 2.80 cumulative GPA and a 3.25 GPA in Religious Studies coursework. Graduate applicants must meet the same minimum grade point average levels. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage female students in the academic study of religion; therefore, preference will be given to female applicants. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester for which the award is given at the undergraduate level or at least six hours each semester at the graduate level. The scholarship is not renewable.
