Psychology Scholarships

Contact the department directly for application and deadline information. Scholarship amounts may vary annually. Unless otherwise noted, students must be undergraduates, enrolled full-time (12 hours).

Bryan Scot Schowengerdt Memorial ScholarshipStudent must be a psychology major enrolled at the sophomore level or higher with an overall GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to a Missouri resident from Bates County. Financial need is considered.

Hom Family ScholarshipStudent must be a psychology major and have completed at least 45 hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. Student shall be accepted for participation in an international Study Away Program, approved by the International Education Office for the Fall or Spring semester of the academic year following the application. Consideration will be given to college academic achievement, leadership experiences and active participation in the Missouri State psychology club.

Jennifer L. Stewart Memorial Psychology ScholarshipStudent must be a graduate student in psychology.  Student must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 in at least 20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours of psychology or graduate GPA of 3.25 in psychology or a combination of both. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 graduate hours each semester.  Financial need is considered if all other criteria are equal. If all other criteria are equal, preference would be that the recipient also not hold a graduate assistantship, except in cases of extreme financial need.

Richard and Virginia Wilkinson Psychology ScholarshipStudent must be at the junior level or higher or a graduating senior who has been accepted for a admission in a doctoral program at another university or who is enrolled in the Master of Science in Psychology-General Track program. Student’s graduate doctoral level of study and research will be limited to wellness, mental health, religion and ethics, community functions, psychoneurology, psychobiology, psychopharmacology, psychogerontology, educational psychology and psychology issues in peace.  Awards shall NOT be made in clinical psychology.  Student should be superior in personality, character,  sensitivity to human relations, and/or show evidence of creative or original thinking as well as being an academically superior student in psychology.

Louis Henry and Seryl Ethel Fisher Community Service ScholarshipStudent must be a gerontology or psychology major and have completed 60 hours with an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher.
