Financial Aid 

History Scholarships

Contact the department directly for deadline and application information. Scholarship amounts vary annually. Unless otherwise noted, students must be undergraduates enrolled full-time (12 hours). 

Wayne C. Bartee Scholarship
Student must be a history major (with Non-United States history emphasis), and have completed 3 non-U.S. history courses with GPA of 3.0 in these courses.

Robert Anthony Foster History Scholarship
Student must be a junior or senior with a 2.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in History. Financial need is considered. 

Mabel Friend Study Club Scholarship
Student must be a sophomore or above enrolled in at least 9 hours with a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Financial need is considered.

Judy Owens Geisler Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a history major who has completed 24 hours with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Student must be involved in public affairs through participation in campus or community service organizations. Preference is given to a female student from a rural Missouri high school. Financial need is considered.

Mary Margaret Long Hickman Scholarship
Student must be enrolled half-time (6 hours) as a history major with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and plan to be a teacher. Preference is given to women over 30 years of age who are returning to school and are not members or affiliate members of an educational albor union.

History Bowl Scholarship
Student must be the outstanding high school junior or senior member of the first or second place team in the annual Missouri State History Bowl competition. Nomination by sponsoring high school teacher is required. The scholarship amount can only be used upon enrollment at Missouri State.

Leo Huff Scholarship
Student must be a history major who demonstrates academic performance, leadership and potential.

Marie-France Jones Memorial Scholarship
Student must be an outstanding high school senior participant in the annual Missouri State History Bowl competition. Nomination by sponsoring high school teacher is required.

Donald H. Nicholson Scholarship
Student must be enrolled at the sophomore level or higher with an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Student must be enrolled in at least 9 hours each semester.

Phi Alpha Theta Scholarship
Student must be a current member of the Theta Mu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. Student must have completed 12 hours of history courses with a GPA of at least 3.2 and have a 3.0 GPA in two-thirds of all non-history course work. Recipient must be enrolled for nine hours if an undergraduate, six hours if a graduate student.

James W. Shannon Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Financial need is considered.

Robert E. Smith Scholarship
Student must be enrolled either part-time or full-time and have maintained an overall GPA of at least 2.5 and a GPA of at least 3.0 in history.
