Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded each year to students who demonstrate qualities such as, but not limited to, outstanding academic achievement, leadership involvement and financial need. The funds come from multiple sources and do not have to be repaid.
The first step to be considered for scholarships is to be admitted to Missouri State. We encourage you to begin the admission process shortly after you complete your junior year of high school or two semesters prior to entering Missouri State, if you are a transfer student.
Types of scholarships
MSU funded scholarships
A variety of scholarships are offered through Missouri State University. Some of our scholarships are automatic, but others require a separate application. Institutionaly funded scholarships are available for:
MSU donor funded scholarships
Privately donated funds are given each year to Missouri State students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership and/or financial need. The funds come from private gifts to the University by individuals, groups or companies. To apply for these scholarships, you must be admitted to the University and complete the online General and Departmental Scholarship Application.
Outside scholarships
Many organizations outside the University award scholarships each year. The list below is a sampling of reputable online scholarship search engines:
- Begin searching for scholarships early. For freshmen: junior year of high school. For transfers: at least two semesters before transferring.
- Follow application instructions carefully.
- Do not let deadlines pass you by.
- Apply for as many scholarships as possible. Small amounts add up.
