First-Generation Parent and Family Welcome

You can smooth the transition and keep your family involved in your new academic adventure.

Discuss campus resources. Discover the importance of involvement on campus. Ask questions. A panel of faculty and staff will share important information as you step into their college career. Enjoy refreshments and the cool theater after a day of moving in.  You don't need to RSVP.

President's Dessert Reception for New Families

Join President Clif Smart and his wife, Gail, for a dessert reception and mingle with other families of the Class of 2022. Relax after a day of moving in, meet faculty, staff and administrators while your students enjoy Playfair and other activities.

Enjoy this high-energy, interactive event, and the perfect way to make new friends. It's a teambuilding experience that you'll find has a long-lasting, positive start to your college career.

Outdoor games and "Black Panther" on the mall

North Mall

Inflatable games, sno cones and a giant movie screen fill the North Mall as you finish your first Friday night. Bring a blanket to watch "Black Panther" under the stars.

"See You Later" Brunch

Enjoy a delicious brunch with your students in one of our dining centers before heading home. Up to two family members can eat for free with their students. Additional guests' meals are $6.75 each.

Transfer Students Ice Cream Social

Plaster Student Union Food Court

This is the place to be if you're from another university. Get to know other transfer Bears and enjoy a delicious ice cream bar.

7:30 p.m.

Fan Fest and Bear Bash

North Mall and Plaster Student Union

Roar at Fan Fest with the sounds of Brass and Sass, carnival games, pizza, popcorn, sno cones and other goodies. Meet Bears student-athletes and get ready for the biggest party on campus: Bear Bash.

Bear Bash includes a caricature artist, game rooms, hypnotist, snacks, crafts, dueling pianos and more. The first 1,000 students who pick up a T-shirt ticket will receive a Bear Bash T-shirt.

It's the official academic welcome and tradition. You'll learn what it means to be a #CitizenBear and discover what's ahead for you. Immediately following the event, take the traditional Bear Walk to New Student Festival.
