Student Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistants assist customers, perform general office duties, and maintain a professional and welcoming front desk environment while supporting administrative operations.

Graphic Designer

The Student Graphic Designer for the Plaster Student Union will be responsible for designing visually compelling graphics, including posters, digital signage, and social media content.

Marketing Assistant

The Marketing Assistant for the Plaster Student Union is responsible for creating engaging social media content, promoting events, and developing and scheduling content across various platforms to create memorable experiences.

Audio-Visual Technician

Audio Visual Technician members are responsible for setting up and monitoring the technical equipment in the building. It is important that the AV Tech staff are familiar with the building, its equipment, policies, programs, services, and day-to-day schedule of events.

Operations Management Team

The OMT group is comprised of student managers who work as either Building or Area managers. The OMT is a core group of student employees who provide a strong foundation for the Plaster Student Union.

Level 1 Games Center

The Level 1 Games Center Manager oversees the scheduling and direction of the Level 1 Games Center tasks and responsibilities.

House Crew Team Member

The Plaster Student Union House Crew is responsible for setting up room arrangements. It is important that the House Crew staff are familiar with the building, its equipment, policies, programs, services and the day-to-day schedule of events.

Office of Student Engagement

The Office of Student Engagement offers many student-employment opportunities.

Information Desk

The Information Desk is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities at the desk.

Sales Assistant

The Sales Assistant conducts outreach to Springfield's business community on behalf of both the PSU & Varsity Esports team.

How do I apply for a position as a student employee in the PSU?
- All available positions will be posted on MSU's employment opportunities website. Most applications will be submitted through the Missouri State Jobs portal, unless otherwise specified.
I have applied for a position in the PSU. What should I expect?
- Once you have submitted your application through the Missouri State Jobs website, it will be reviewed by the staff member responsible for the relevant department. If you are selected for an interview, a member of our staff will contact you directly to schedule an interview. Due to the high volume of applications, if you are not selected for an interview, you may not be contacted. Please note that each job posting may have different timelines, so we ask for your patience during the process. If you have any questions about the status of your application, please refer to the job posting you applied to and reach out to the contact listed for that position.
How many hours should I expect to work?
- Hours can vary significantly depending on your availability, the position you are hired for, and building activity. Some positions have a more consistent schedule, while others are event-based and are scheduled around event times. If you are interested in working for the PSU and require a certain number of hours, please communicate this in your application or during your interview.
Is work study required to work at the PSU?
- Work study is NOT required for any PSU positions, but students with work study are eligible to work at the PSU.
I have been offered a position in the PSU. What does the new hire process look like?
- Domestic student employees: You must complete a federal W-4, state W-4, and I-9 forms. Please bring the required original documents for I-9 verification. Once your paperwork is processed, a clearance form will be submitted to officially add you as a student employee; you and your supervisor will receive an email from StudentClearance@MissouriState.edu confirming your clearance to begin work. Your supervisor will then contact you to finalize your schedule.
- International student employees: Your hiring department will submit a job offer form to the International Services Office. Once submitted, you'll need to visit the International Services Office to complete the required paperwork. If you need a Social Security Number, they will assist with this and the rest of the hiring process. International Services will guide you throughout the process; be sure to maintain communication with your hiring department throughout the process. After your documents are processed, a clearance form will be submitted, and you'll receive an email from StudentClearance@MissouriState.edu confirming your eligibility to begin work. Your supervisor will then contact you to finalize your schedule.
Can I work more than one job on campus?
- Yes. However, you may not work more than 1000 hours in one year (average 20 hours/week). Domestic student employees can work over 20 hours in a week but most weeks will be kept at 20 or less. International student employees may not work over 20 hours per week due to federal visa requirements, except during university breaks. If you have multiple jobs on campus, it is your responsibility to communicate with your supervisors and ensure you are not exceeding this limit.
