Department: Office of Student Engagement
Supervision: Position reports to the Administrative Assistant III of the Office of Student Engagement under the Director of Student Engagement.
Position Overview:
The Student Specialist for SOFAC is responsible for working with the SOFAC Graduate Assistant to supervise day to day operations of the SOFAC proposal, allocation, and reimbursement systems, and to provide ongoing support to student organizations that are seeking funding and require assistance.General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support and guidance for approximately 100+ student organizations seeking
funding.
- Be knowledgeable of SOFAC guidelines.
- Meet with organization leaders to answer questions regarding paperwork, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as the liaison between the Office of Student Engagement and student organizations and advisors through supportive communication.
- Provide administrative support to SOFAC staff.
- Assist Graduate Assistant with administrative functions—checking organizations’ active status and verifying requirements have been met.
- Correspond with SOFAC council regarding meetings, updates, and changes.
- Prepare meeting materials (agendas, proposals, charts, nametags, etc.).
- Organize files and otherwise help with the flow and filing of documentation.
- Help update the SOFAC website to keep it both current and informative.
- Assist in the coordination of SOFAC programs and services.
- Evaluate and select candidates for the council with assistance from Graduate Assistant and Director.
- Assist Graduate Assistant with preparation and presentation of SOFAC funding trainings.
- Oversee the administrative functions of SOFAC’s Organization Copying Fund for student organizations.
- Assist Graduate Assistant with preparation of marketing materials and programs.
- Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Co-Curricular Involvement and SOFAC staff.
Qualifications (Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Receptionist team members are student employees and must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International students.
- Ability to follow directions and manage time.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
- Must attend all SOFAC trainings and meetings (various times according to schedule)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite programs, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of the Office of Student Engagement and its functions.
- Knowledge of, and how to use, BearLink.
Schedule:
- Average of 15-20 hours/week.
- Office is open 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Department: Office of Student Engagement
Supervision: Position reports to the Student Engagement Coordinator – Co-Curricular Involvement. Throughout the year, the IAs meet one-on-one with each student organization, work to improve student involvement on many levels, and assist the Coordinator and Graduate Assistant with student involvement projects as needed.
Position Overview:
The Involvement Ambassador (IA) provides assistance and advisement to student organizations and their leaders.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- With the team of three Involvement Ambassadors, arrange one-on-one advising meetings with organization presidents to go over OSE requirements, mission/vision of the organization and its events, etc.
- Assist in planning and implementation of BearLink’s co-curricular involvement features.
- Meet with current and prospective students to discuss ways to get involved on our campus.
- Review pre-meeting questionnaires that will guide one-on-one conversations with student leaders.
- Give involvement presentations on behalf of the Office of Student Engagement.
- Meet regularly with full-time staff and the Co-Curricular Involvement team.
- Support the Co-Curricular Involvement team’s educational programming through activity facilitation and logistical planning.
- Responsible for reviewing individual experience submissions in BearLink, approving and denying as necessary.
- Perform other duties and functions for the Co-Curricular Involvement team as assigned.
- This may include general office needs such as answering phone calls, answering walk-in questions, general typing/filing, etc.

Position Title: Fraternity and Sorority Life Student Specialist - Operations
Department: Office of Student Engagement
Supervision: This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement for Fraternity and Sorority Life in the Office of Student Engagement.
Position Overview:
The Fraternity and Sorority Life Student Specialist supports the Office of Student Engagement and Fraternity and Sorority Life full time staff by performing functions related to the day-to-day operations of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist the FSL Councils and FSL main account with marketing projects.
- Provide support in coordinating and executing major events such as the AFLV conference, annual FSL Leadership Retreat, FSL Awards Banquet, Panhellenic recruitment, and other special projects.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Student Engagement for Fraternity and Sorority Life or Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life with all extension and expansion projects.
- Create and manage all materials used for Orientation Programs and Admissions events such as showcases, visit days, SOAR, Bear Notes, etc.
- Post at least once a week on the Admissions app ZeeMee.
- Process forms and paperwork such as community service hours, event registrations, educational and philanthropic reports, etc.
- Help coordinate and attend Fraternity and Sorority Life Presidents’ Meetings.
- Meet with the Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life on a regular basis.
- Attend biweekly meetings with FSL staff team.
- Perform other duties and functions for the Office of Student Engagement as assigned.

- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International full time undergraduate students.

- Proficient knowledge of applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.

- Sophomore or junior standing.
- Prior leadership experience on campus.
- Skills in multi-tasking, problem solving, organization, listening, and facilitation.
- Experience in marking or public relations, programming, and website management.

Position Title: Fraternity and Sorority Life Student Specialist - Marketing
Department: Office of Student Engagement
Supervision: This position reports to the Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life in the Office of Student Engagement.
Position Overview:
The Fraternity and Sorority Life Student Specialist supports the Office of Student Engagement and Fraternity and Sorority Life full time staff by performing functions related to the day-to-day operations of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate marketing efforts for the Fraternity and Sorority Life community, including all department social media platforms, blogs, websites and marketing materials with the assistance of the governing council Marketing/Public Relations officers.
- Assist the FSL Councils with marketing projects.
- Help make updates to website as necessary.
- Assist in making promotional materials for events such as showcase, SOAR, etc.
- Provide support in coordinating and executing major events such as the annual FSL Leadership Retreat, FSL Awards Banquet, Panhellenic recruitment, and other special projects.
